Cyanidin 3-Oxalylglucoside in Orchids

چکیده
In the last few years increasing evidence has been presented that acylated flavonoids are widespread in higher plants [1—3], Besides the well known phenolic acids (hydroxybenzoates, hydroxycinnamates), aliphatic acids have only recently been extensively detected as acyl moieties of anthocyanins or gly cosides of (iso)flavones and flavonols. To date, ace tic, butyric, malonic, 2-methylbutyric, succinic and tiglic acids have been identified, among which malonic acid appears to be the most commonly oc curring one. As a consequence of the great lability of aliphatic acid esters, such natural products might have been frequently overlooked in earlier studies [3, 4], Although there is only fragmentary knowledge of orchid anthocyanins [5], it is known that complex mixtures of acylated and non-acylated anthocyanins cause a broad spectrum of orchid flower colouration. In a survey of European orchids, Uphoff [6] de scribed the widespread occurrence of cyanidin 3monoglucoside, 3-diglucoside and 3,5-diglucoside together with complex acylated anthocyanins, the nature of which needed further investigation. As first part of a comprehensive investigation of phenylpropanoids in flowers of European orchids, we report here on one of their major acylated antho-

Anthocyanins from red flowers of Camellia reticulata LINDL.
Ten anthocyanins, cyanidin 3-sambubioside, 3-glucoside and their acylated derivatives, cyanidin 3-lathyroside and cyanidin 3-galactoside, were isolated from red flowers of Camellia reticulata. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, and the chemotaxonomic distribution of the accumulated anthocyanins in the petals of wild Camellia reticulata and C. pitardii var. ...

Cyanidin and its glycosides are naturally dietary pigments which have been indicated as promising candidates to have potential benefits to humans, especially in the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus. We investigated the structure activity relationships of cyanidin and its glycosides to inhibit intestinal α-glucosidases and pancreatic α-amylase in vitro. The results found that cyanid...

In the present study we investigated the metabolic conversion of cyanidin glycosides in human subjects using solid-phase extraction,HPLC-diode array detector, MS, GC, and enzymic techniques. Volunteers consumed approximately 20 g chokeberry extract containing 1.3 g cyanidin 3-glycosides (899 mg cyanidin 3-galactoside, 321 mg cyanidin 3-arabinoside, 51 mg cyanidin 3-xyloside and 50 mg cyanidin 3...

Flavonoids have an ability to suppress various ion channels. We determined whether one of flavonoids, cyanidin-3-glucoside, affects adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP)-induced calcium signaling using digital imaging methods for intracellular free Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)]i), reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential in PC12 cells. Treatment with ATP (100µM) for 90 sec ...
